Datura or California Jimsonweed is a plant that has been used as an intoxicant by native American tribes and hippies. Because of its toxicity it can be dangerous, but at the end of a hot dry California summer it is the only thing in bloom. I find it delicately beautiful and appreciate seeing a flower when there are no others.
