Tuareg Silver and Carnelian Earrings
Silver and carnelian earrings made by Tuareg nomads of the Sahara. They make jewelry by hand with no electricity using bellows, forge and anvil to melt and tap the silver into shape. Artist Leslie Clark travels to Niger each year to purchase their work. She takes them materials that are not available in Niger. On her return she designs and makes necklaces using pendants and beads made by the Tuareg or collected elsewhere on her travels.
In the days of COVID, when travel is limited, the Tuareg jewelers depend on these sales since they cannot travel to sell their work and no tourists come to them. Please help this isolated community by making a purchase.
